 Contoh report text tema Animals

1. Report Text: Elephants

General Classification

The elephant is the largest land mammal in the world . They belong to the family Elephantidae and the order Proboscidea. Currently, three species are recognized: the African Forest Elephant (Loxodonta cyclotis), the African Bush Elephant (Loxodonta africana), and the Asian Elephant (Elephas maximus).

Descriptions

Physical Characteristics

Elephants have distinct and easily recognizable physical features. They possess a long trunk, which is an extension of their nose and upper lip, used for breathing, smelling, drinking, grasping food, and social interaction. Nearly all male elephants and some females have tusks, which are elongated incisor teeth used for digging, lifting objects, and as weapons. Elephants have very large ears, especially the African species, which help them radiate body heat to regulate their temperature. They have thick, wrinkled, grey skin.

Habitat and Diet

Elephants are found in a variety of habitats, including savannas, forests, deserts, and marshes. African elephants primarily live in Sub-Saharan Africa, while Asian elephants are found in South and Southeast Asia. They are herbivores, consuming massive quantities of roots, grasses, fruits, and bark daily.

Social Behavior

Elephants are highly intelligent and social animals. They live in family groups or herds led by the oldest female, called the matriarch. They communicate using a variety of sounds, touches, and gestures, including low-frequency rumbles (infrasound) that humans cannot hear.

2. Report Text: Penguins

General Classification

Penguins are a group of flightless, aquatic seabirds that live almost exclusively in the Southern Hemisphere 🐧. They belong to the order Sphenisciformes and the family Spheniscidae. There are about 18 species of Penguins, with the Emperor Penguin (Aptenodytes forsteri) being the tallest and heaviest, and the Little Blue Penguin (Eudyptula minor) being the smallest.

Descriptions

Physical Characteristics

Penguins have bodies highly adapted for life in the sea. Their wings have evolved into powerful flippers, which they use to "fly" through the water while hunting. They have black feathers on their backs and heads, and white feathers on the front of their bodies (belly), a coloration pattern known as countershading that helps camouflage them from predators and prey. Their legs are short and set far back on the body, giving them their characteristic upright posture. They have a layer of thick fat (blubber) and dense feathers for insulation against cold temperatures.

Habitat and Diet

Though often associated with the frigid Antarctic, some Penguin species live in temperate zones, such as the Galapagos Penguin which lives near the Equator. Their main diet consists of krill, fish, squid, and other small sea creatures that they catch while diving. They are incredible swimmers and divers, capable of holding their breath for extended periods.

Life Cycle and Behavior

Penguins typically nest in large colonies called rookeries. They are serially monogamous animals, often returning to the same mate for several breeding seasons. Species like the Emperor Penguin are famous for their behavior where the male Penguin will incubate the egg on his feet throughout the harsh Antarctic winter without eating.
