DEFINITION/PENGERTIAN
Simple past tense adalah kalimat
tenses yang digunakan untuk menyatakan kejadian yang terjadi di masa lampau dan
telah berakhir di masa lampau.
Berbeda
dengan past
continous tense, yakni menyatakan kejadian yang terjadi di masa
lampau, namun masih terjadi di masa sekarang.

POLA KALIMAT SIMPLE PAST
TENSE
Ada dua pola yang digunakan
yakni dengan kata kerja dan dengan kata bantu.
1)
Kata kerja

(-) S + did not + verb1
+ O + A

A? Yes, S did/ No, S didn’t
Notes:
S= Subjek (He, She, It,

Verb = Kata Kerja

Biasanya menggunakan
kata keterangan waktu sebagai berikut:
Yesterday = kemarin
Last night = tadi malam
Last week = pecan kemarin
Last month = bulan lalu
Last year = tahun lalu
This morning = pagi ini

- She joined the English club class at school yesterday.
- Last Monday, Joni got in an accident at the office.

- Ade went to school with his new bicycle this morning.
- I did not sleep well last night.
- Rani did not come to the office yesterday.
- Adi did not win the English debate competition last month.
- Arif was not the smartest students in the class.
- Was he so busy? No, he wasn’t.
- Was the movie so fantastic? Tell me.
- Did he clean your room yesterday? No, he didn’t.
