Narrative Text: Materi dan Latihan Soal

A narrative text is a piece of writing that tells a story. It presents a sequence of events that are connected to each other. This type of text can be either fictional or non-fictional, and its main purpose is to entertain the reader. 

Teks naratif adalah sebuah teks yang menceritakan rangkaian suatu peristiwa secara berurutan dan saling terhubung satu sama lain. Jenis teks ini memiliki sifat imajinatif atau cerita khayalan yang bertujuan untuk menghibur pembacanya. Dengan kata lain, teks naratif adalah sebuah cerita yang bisa berupa fiksi atau non-fiksi.


Berikut beberapa aspek penting dari teks naratif:

  • Struktur: Teks naratif biasanya memiliki struktur yang jelas, yaitu:
    • Orientasi: Pengenalan tokoh, waktu, dan tempat.
    • Komplikasi: Peristiwa yang menyebabkan konflik atau masalah.
    • Evaluasi: Reaksi tokoh terhadap komplikasi.
    • Resolusi: Penyelesaian masalah atau konflik.
    • Koda: Pesan atau kesan yang ingin disampaikan penulis.
  • Ciri-ciri:
    • Menggunakan kata kerja tindakan (verb) untuk menggambarkan peristiwa.
    • Menggunakan kata keterangan waktu (adverb of time) untuk menunjukkan urutan peristiwa.
    • Menggunakan kata sambung (conjunction) untuk menghubungkan kalimat.
    • Menggunakan bahasa yang hidup dan imajinatif

Contoh Teks Naratif (dalam Bahasa Inggris):

Once upon a time, there was a little girl named Alice who fell down a rabbit hole. She found herself in a strange and wonderful world filled with talking animals and mad tea parties. Alice had many adventures before finally finding her way back home.

Contoh Teks Naratif (dalam Bahasa Indonesia):

Dahulu kala, hiduplah seorang gadis kecil bernama Alice yang terjatuh ke dalam lubang kelinci. Ia menemukan dirinya berada di dunia yang aneh dan menakjubkan, penuh dengan hewan-hewan yang bisa berbicara dan pesta teh yang gila. Alice mengalami banyak petualangan sebelum akhirnya menemukan jalan pulang.

Example 1: Cinderella

Narrative Text:

Once upon a time, there lived a beautiful young girl named Cinderella. She was forced to do all the housework by her cruel stepmother and stepsisters. One day, an invitation arrived for a royal ball. Cinderella was heartbroken, but her fairy godmother appeared and transformed her into a beautiful princess. She went to the ball and danced with the prince. However, the magic spell wore off at midnight, and she had to flee. She left behind a glass slipper, which the prince used to find her. They were married and lived happily ever after.

Example 2: The Little Mermaid

Narrative Text:

A young mermaid named Ariel longed to live on land. She made a deal with the sea witch, Ursula, to trade her voice for legs. Ariel fell in love with a human prince, but she had to win his love within three days or turn back into a mermaid. With the help of her friends, Flounder and Sebastian, Ariel faced many challenges. In the end, she defeated Ursula and married the prince.

  3. What was the condition of the deal?
