Have you ever seen a peacock that spread its beautiful tail feathers? That is the male peacock! The female peacocks are plain brown and do not have beautiful tail feathers.
Have you ever seen mallard ducks with pretty greenheads? These ducks are male ducks. Why are the male birds more colorful than the females?
Peacocks and ducks belong to the birds family. When a female bird lays eggs, she has to stay in the nest and protect her eggs while the male finds. Therefore, the female has to blend in with the trees and bushes around her, so that bigger animals could not see her and eat eggs.
Usually it is the female bird that chooses her mate. The male bird must have pretty colors to be attractive to the female. Sometimes the male bird must attract the female by making a fancy nest, or doing dances for her.
For some types of bird, where the made has to stay in the nest to protect the eggs, the female has to blend has brighter colors.

Dear Edgar,
I am very sorry for this late reply. I have just returned from my hometown. I was on holiday, but I did not really enjoy my stay there. Things have changed.
When I was a child, I used to swim and go fishing with my brother and my friends in the river near my house. I like the river because the water was clear and there were a lot of fish in it.
